Dragon General dashed strongly one from the right racing fourth from the rear to get up in the dying stages for the win. Green Energy was swamped late after claiming the front chasing the leader Raging Storm at the 300. Raging favourite Superich still nearly got up despite being badly held up in traffic until the 200m following a patient ride third from the rear. He's still got plenty of points in hand. Mongolian King finished nicely down the outside after settling a distant last going back from a wide gate. He's capable when right but has struggled with heart irregularity issues. Infinity Endeavour finished well after being held up until the 200m trailing Superich in the run following a slow start. He should have finished closer. California Joy wasn't beaten all that far after covering a tonne of ground in midfield. He's one to keep safe from a better draw. Harmony Hero came up one-paced in midfield after being caught in traffic until the 150m. He had excuses.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (154) - ELEANOR HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1400Meters

MONGOLIAN KING was checked on jumping when crowded for room outside TURF SPRINT which shifted out.

From a wide barrier, TURF SPRINT was then steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

INFINITY ENDEAVOUR began awkwardly and lost ground.

COBY BOY began only fairly.

Shortly after the start, COBY BOY raced tight inside CALIFORNIA JOY.

Despite being ridden along for a considerable distance in the early stages, CALIFORNIA JOY failed to muster speed and consequently travelled wide and without cover for the majority of the race.

Near the 400 Metres, INFINITY ENDEAVOUR was checked when crowded for room between SUPERICH (Z Purton) which initially shifted in before being directed out to relieve the tightening to INFINITY ENDEAVOUR and HARMONY HERO (M Chadwick) which shifted out.

Z Purton was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances whilst M Chadwick was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in future.

Approaching the 300 Metres, COBY BOY was disappointed for running between CALIFORNIA JOY and MY DARLING which shifted out marginally.

COBY BOY was then held up for clear running until near the 100 Metres.

SUPERICH was badly held up for clear running from on entering the Straight until passing the 250 Metres.

Throughout the race, COBY BOY travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, Mr C S Shum stated that he felt today's race lacked horses which had shown good early speed and prior to today's racemeeting beginning he was undecided whether GREEN ENERGY should be ridden from a wide barrier to obtain a forward position or be ridden back in the field as it was at its most recent start.

He said as he felt that horses which were racing nearer the inside were advantaged in a number of today's races, he believed that GREEN ENERGY would have had to get too far out of its ground were it to be ridden close to the rail from the rear and consequently would not be able to finish off the race as well as it did last start if the pace of the race was not strong as he anticipated.

He said he therefore instructed Apprentice H T Mo, the rider of GREEN ENERGY, to ride the horse positively in the early stages and attempt to obtain a position close to the rail.

He said GREEN ENERGY had previously raced well when ridden in a forward position both for him and when in the care of a previous trainer and although the horse was successful last start when ridden from the rear, he had no concerns with GREEN ENERGY being able to finish off the race today when ridden in a forward position.

A veterinary inspection of COBY BOY and HARMONY HERO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUPERICH, DRAGON GENERAL and GREEN ENERGY were sent for sampling.

31 October 2018 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 6 (142) When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GRAN MASTER, Apprentice C Wong stated that, as instructed, he rode his mount positively in the early stages to obtain a forward position from a wide barrier.

He said after shifting in to race outside the lead passing the winning post on the first occasion, GRAN MASTER then travelled satisfactorily throughout the early and middle stages.

He said the horse then came under pressure rounding the Home Turn and did not quicken for him at this time.

He added he continued to test GRAN MASTER, however, the horse did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in the manner in which it gave ground, particularly over the final 200 Metres.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 31 October 2018 The Veterinary Surgeon reported that MY HONEY was lame in its right front leg with a tendon injury on the day after racing.

Before being allowed to race again, MY HONEY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of SUPERIOR BOY, MY HONEY, GOLDEN EFFORT, DRAGON WARRIOR, CALCULATION, GLORIOUS ARTIST, DR PROACTIVE, VIVA COUNCIL, NICE KICK, FLYING GODSPELL, SPICY KAKA, HAY RUN, GOOD FIT, KING'S MAN, ELUSIVE STATE, HANG'S DECISION, RAGING BLITZKRIEG, PERPETUAL TREASURE and GO PUBLIC revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of MANAGEMENT STAR, GLORY STAR, TRAVEL AMBASSADOR, CLOUD NINE, GIANT TURTLE, GOLDFIELD, IMPECCABLE FELLOW, ELECTRIC LIGHTNING, MEGATRON, TRENDIFUL, RAICHU, LUCKY LUCKY, BEAUT BEAUT, GENTLE BREEZE, BLITZING, ROMAN ODYSSEY, STAR OF JOY, POWERMAX, PERFECT GLORY, JADE THEATRE and MR PICASSO (24.10.18) proved negative.
