Recap by phillip woo

Post-time favourite Godspeed got up 100m out for a maiden win at his 15th start following a well-executed ride by Zac Purton sitting one off in midfield. He might be ready to step up in Class Four off a light weight now. Love Chunghwa closed off well from behind midfield to just overhaul Hidden Spirit for second. He's caught the eye in back-to-back runs in this grade. Hidden Spirit plugged on gamely for third after hitting the front 200m out despite a three-deep run without cover in a handy spot from the 600m onwards. Keep Winning had to work hard to sit outside the leader, assumed the front 350m out and grudgingly gave way inside the last 100m. He has given a decent sight in both C&D runs. Letsgofree finished well late near the inside settling near last going back from the widest gate. He's not genuine but is well rated off his current mark. Golden Cannon ran on without menacing after travelling fourth from the rear. It was another honest effort.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (715) - MOUNT CAMERON HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters

KWAICHUNG BROTHERS stood flat-footed at the start and lost a considerable amount of ground.

Before being allowed to race again, KWAICHUNG BROTHERS will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

LOVE CHUNGHWA and GOLDEN CANNON were crowded for room on jumping between WINNING CIRCLE and GODSPEED, both of which shifted ground.

SOCCER BRAVE shifted in at the start and bumped KEEP WINNING.

From wide barriers, LET'S COME BACK and LETSGOFREE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

KWAICHUNG BROTHERS lost its right front plate in the early stages.

Near the 1050 Metres, WINNING CIRCLE got its head on the side, shifted in of its own accord and became unbalanced after brushing the running rail.

When WINNING CIRCLE became unbalanced, it shifted back out and bumped LUCKY SHINY DAY, causing LUCKY SHINY DAY to become unbalanced and WINNING CIRCLE to become further unbalanced.

KEEP WINNING travelled wide and without cover until approaching the 800 Metres at which time HIDDEN SPIRIT was left racing wide and without cover.

Near the 50 Metres, LETSGOFREE was shifted in away from the heels of KEEP WINNING to continue improving.

Passing the 50 Metres, GOLDEN CANNON was awkwardly placed outside the heels of LOVE CHUNGHWA.

Then close to the finishing line, GOLDEN CANNON was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LOVE CHUNGHWA and consequently was not ridden out all the way to the end of the race.

Also close to the finishing line, LUCKY SHINY DAY was shifted out away from the heels of HIDDEN SPIRIT.

When questioned, J Moreira stated that he had not been provided with any specific instructions on how LUCKY SHINY DAY should be ridden, rather it was contingent on the manner in which the horse began and the pace of the race in the early stages.

He said LUCKY SHINY DAY began very well and he was able to obtain a forward position without having to make too much use of the horse.

He said after obtaining a prominent position approaching the winning post on the first occasion, he then steadied his mount and was able to obtain a trailing position behind the leaders.

He said LUCKY SHINY DAY travelled satisfactorily until near the 600 Metres at which time the horse came off the bridle and he attributed this to having to race amongst other horses as when LUCKY SHINY DAY was shifted out in the early part of the Straight the horse then finished off the race satisfactorily.

A veterinary inspection of WINNING CIRCLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GODSPEED and LOVE CHUNGHWA were sent for sampling.
