Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (342) - JACKSON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 2200Meters
BRIGHT KID was withdrawn on 17.1.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter KUNGFUMASTER PANDA (H Bowman).
Before being allowed to race again, BRIGHT KID will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
WINNING STEPS was slow to begin.
ROBOT WARRIOR shifted out on jumping and bumped KOWLOON GREAT.
BLASTOISE was tightened for room at the start between KUNGFUMASTER PANDA and MANAGEMENT FOLKS.
After this, KUNGFUMASTER PANDA was shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier.
After then being ridden along for a short distance, MANAGEMENT FOLKS was left racing wide and approaching the first turn after the 2100 Metres was steadied to obtain cover at the rear of the field.
After the 2100 Metres, FLYING MIGHTY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SUNNY BABY.
Near the 1900 Metres, WINNING STEPS was eased away from the heels of AMAZING BOY which shifted in.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, SUNNY BABY shifted out away from the heels of VINCY.
Passing the 550 Metres, SUNNY BABY raced tight outside BLASTOISE.
MANAGEMENT FOLKS was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and passing the 300 Metres brushed with WONDER YEARS.
Then passing the 200 Metres, MANAGEMENT FOLKS was steadied when held up for clear running behind AMAZING BOY and BLASTOISE.
After the 150 Metres, WINNING STEPS was steadied away from the heels of WONDER YEARS after shifting out towards that horse which was improving into tight running inside AMAZING BOY.
A veterinary inspection of ROBOT WARRIOR and WINNING STEPS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WONDER YEARS, KOWLOON GREAT and HAPPY ANGEL were sent for sampling.

Kowloon Great responded nicely when popped the question to win going away 100m out after saving ground in midfield for a first local win at his 14th start. He had put the writing on the wall with a step up to 2,000m last time out. Happy Angel found one too good after getting an uncontested lead and turning nearly two lengths on top. He is a winner waiting to happen over this course. Vincy ran on steadily to just miss second after a handy run. He has trouble winning. Sunny Baby finished well near the outside to fill the frame after biding his time one off the fence behind midfield. It was another honest effort. Management Folks ran on reasonably well after travelling second last from gate 12 and having to check near the 200m pole. It was a positive effort following a win in Class Five. Wonder Years made some ground without menacing after being ridden along for most of the race. He is limited. Blastoise came up flat from behind midfield on the fence. He was down in class but could not cope with a big weight. Kungfumaster Panda made some ground late near the outside after settling third last from a wide draw.
