Recap by phillip woo

Plunged late and wearing blinkers for the first time, Lucky Archangel poked his head in front of long-time leader Round The Globe 200m out and narrowly prevailed to score his fourth Class Four win over this course and distance. Round The Globe found the front from gate seven and did not go down without a fight. It was a solid effort on his first Happy Valley appearance after placing in three of his five Sha Tin starts. Kokushi Musou ran on well from one off the fence in midfield to fill a placing. He is building towards a win with placings in both of his races this term. See U Again made a flying start but only held his ground after getting all the favours in the box seat. He produces an odd positive run now and then. Favourite Baby Crystal came up one-paced following his one-out, oneback run. He performed OK on his Happy Valley debut carrying the heaviest weight for his new trainer, Francis Lui Kin-wai. Last-start winner Togepi made some ground from midfield on the fence. He needed the run on his first outing for Cody Mo Wai-kit. Juneau Flash ran on without threatening the placegetters. He needed the run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (53) - HONEYEATER HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

E BROTHER was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).

Before being allowed to race again, E BROTHER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

FLYING ON THE TURF jumped awkwardly and then was crowded between BABY CRYSTAL and KOKUSHI MUSOU which also jumped awkwardly and shifted in.

TOGEPI shifted out at the start and bumped ROUND THE GLOBE.

From a wide barrier, NINJA DERBY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

From the outside barriers, TIMESTORM and GOOD BOY were also shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

NINJA DERBY raced keenly in the early stages.

Approaching the 1000 Metres, BABY CRYSTAL was steadied to avoid ROUND THE GLOBE (A Badel) which shifted in when not clear.

A Badel was severely reprimanded.

Making the turn near the 600 Metres, GOOD BOY commenced to race keenly and shifted out when being steadied away from JUNEAU FLASH.

Over the final 100 Metres, TOGEPI was held up for clear running behind LUCKY ARCHANGEL and could not be fully ridden out to the finish of the event.

After the race, Z Purton (LUCKY ARCHANGEL) reported that with blinkers on for the first time tonight, he was instructed by Trainer F C Lor to take up a forward position from a wide barrier.

Mr Lor confirmed that with blinkers on tonight and having regard to the pattern of racing, he instructed Jockey Purton to take up a forward position.

A veterinary inspection of NINJA DERBY and FLYING ON THE TURF immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of TIMESTORM immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

BABY CRYSTAL, LUCKY ARCHANGEL and ROUND THE GLOBE were sent for sampling.
