Hong Kong Sevens 2023: kick-off times, fixtures, scores, results, TV info, tickets – all you need to know for day 2

  • The city’s second Sevens in 5 months runs from Friday March 31 until Sunday April 2, with rugby and entertainment at Hong Kong Stadium
  • Day 2 starts bright and early, with mini-rugby first up before the women again get things started just after 8.30am

The 2023 Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens enters its second day of three on Saturday, with the competition for knockout places hotting up.

Here’s everything you need to know.

When does the Sevens start?

Saturday gets going even earlier than Friday, with the gates in So Kon Po opening at 7am.

That’s because there’s more mini-rugby to fit in between 7.10am and 8.30am before another packed day in the women’s and men’s competitions. Those kick off at 8.46am with the women’s clash between Japan and Spain.

At 2.59pm, the rugby will pause while The Red Stripes and Plastic Bertrand entertain the crowd, followed by the all-important march-past of players. There’s more entertainment at 7.22pm, courtesy of Funky Times Vossa.

After the women’s Cup quarter-finals, the action ends at 9.25pm.

Day 2 highlights

Australia and New Zealand have a chance to reinforce their women’s title credentials against Fiji (9.55am) and Canada (10.41am) respectively.

Hong Kong’s final group match, against Great Britain, falls between those at 10.18am.

In the men’s, the home side also face the Brits (1.28pm), then Uruguay (5.49pm). They’ll be giving everything to win one of those after pushing France on day 1.

New Zealand v South Africa at 11.04am and Argentina v Fiji at 4.37pm will have a bearing on how the knockout rounds shape up.

Hong Kong Sevens tickets

Weekend Sevens tickets are available from the official HKRU ticketing platform.

Prices have been frozen at 2019 levels, with a three-day pass costing HK$1,950 for adults and HK$950 for children aged 12 and under.

Limited numbers of day passes have also been on sale via Klook.

Is there a Sevens fan zone?

Yes – located directly across the road from Hong Kong Stadium.

Travelling from abroad

Fans need no longer complete quarantine on arrival, nor will they be barred (as they risked being in November) from entry to the stadium for having the wrong health status.

Travellers are advised to check Hong Kong’s general border entry requirements.

Sevens on TV and online

Viewers in Hong Kong can catch all of the action on i-CABLE’s sports channel.
