Hong Kong Sevens adds new fan village as it prepares for Kai Tak debut
Waisale Serevi, DJ Forbes and Schalk Burger among rugby legends who will appear at open-air space featuring live music and activities

The Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens is to add a fan village to the festivities when it makes its move to the new Kai Tak Stadium next month.
Activities, live musical performances and the chance to meet rugby legends will await fans during the tournament from March 28 to 30, in addition to the first chance to experience the action at the city’s newly completed 50,000-seat arena.
The event will feature music from the Kaiser Chiefs, DJ Pete Tong, GALA and more inside the stadium, but ticket-holders can also visit the 7,800 sq ft village. Transformed from Kai Tak Sports Park’s East Village area, it promises an open-air space with activities put up by co-title sponsors Cathay and HSBC, among others.
The family-friendly area will have a dedicated kids’ zone complete with giant inflatables, alongside Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) community and sports activities.
More than 30 food and drink stands will be on offer, including three garden lounges.

All matches will be shown live on a big screen inside the village, and beanbag seating provided.
