Katy Perry injects positivity into anyone’s life. Ever since the release of I Kissed A Girl, she’s gained worldwide popularity.

Her rise to fame seems meteoric but the documentary movie Katy Perry: Part of Me tells you otherwise – this Teenage Dream singer is not an overnight success.

This movie gives a deeper insight into this songstress’s past, from her upbringing in a Christian family where pop music was strictly forbidden, to her struggle of seeking individuality when record labels fashioned her as “the next Kelly Clarkson” or “next Ashlee Simpson” instead of just Katy Perry.

The treacherous path may have seemingly led Katy to a boulevard since she rocketed to stardom in 2008. Despite her glittering costumes, this documentary shines a light on the dark corner of her personal life. Her whirlwind marriage to Russell Brand ended quickly. In the film, Katy cried vehemently backstage; but finally insisted on continuing the concert lest she disappointed her beloved fans.

Numerous Billboard No. 1 hits may show this celebrity’s talent. Yet, Katy’s perseverance for her dream and kindness to fans ultimately define her inner being. This documentary gives us a unique perspective to learn about this great artist.
