Far East Movement's new EP is worth the wait [Review]
It's been two years since Far East Movement released an album, but their six-song EP, KTown Riot, came out on Tuesday.
This release may be less pop-leaning than Dirty Bass, but it's still got that Far East Movement party vibe. Ktown Riot starts with three beat-heavy tracks - The Illest and Bang It to the Curb start out relatively slow, giving you a little time to react, but Grimey Thirsty contains no such buffer period. They cut straight to the action. No description could do it justice; just hit the play button to get the full effect.
The last three songs are softer, but are by no means a snooze. Level (Palm Trees) ( featuring La'reda and Sha Sha Jones) is reminiscent of FM's previous hit, Rocketeer. Both suggest chasing your dreams: "One day, we'll be level with the palm trees". The track's so laid back, you can almost feel the LA sunshine.
This is hard-hitting dance music with heart. You can feel FM's love for Koreatown and their community. This record plays proper homage to it.
