In honour of today's public holiday, which honours "Victory Day of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression" on the mainland, here are our top 10 songs about winning.

We Are the Champions - Queen

It's all in the name!

Fight Song - Rachel Platten

The singer wrote the song during a low point, when she was doubting her dreamp; now she's sitting on top of the charts around the world.

Nessun Dorma - The Three Tenors

The rousing line "Vincero! Vincero! Vincero!" means "I will win! I will win! I will win!" Nothing like confidence to get you to victory.

We're a Winner - The Impressions

An anthem for the Civil Rights Movement of 1960s America, this upbeat track is a reminder, as the lyrics go, to "never let anybody say/Boy, you can't make it". Just do your thing.

Uprising - Das Sound Machine

Pitch Perfect 2 was one of the greatest movies of the summer, and Das Sound Machine's version of Muse's Uprising was spine-tingling - as was their confident declaration that "We will be victorious". Nobody doubts it.

Eye of the Tiger - Survivor

It's pretty much the ultimate anthem for anyone facing a fight (preferably of the verbal, debate-style variety).

The World's Greatest - R. Kelly

Again, it's all about confidence. If you believe you can win, you can win!

All I Do Is Win - DJ Khaled

Does what it says on the tin.

Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus

This hit from 2000 is a reminder that it's not always the predictable, popular people who win - we're all winners in our individual ways.

Roar - Katy Perry

You're a winner! Let people know! Let them hear you ROAR!

Bonus: Another One Bites the Dust - Queen

If you don't know Queen, it's worth checking them out. They really do have some of the most winner-worthy (and karaoke friendly!) songs ever written!
