Claes Nobel called on young people to uniteClaes Nobel, Senior Member of the Nobel Prize Family, called for youth empowerment, unity and peace in a speech at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) on Sunday.
Nobel, who founded the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS), said education nurtures professional skills and brings young people together.
Nobel encouraged young people to “listen to their hearts” and interact with people around the world and discuss issues that inspire them to make the world better.
Isabella Wong, director of the admissions and academic liaison section at the HKU, said Nobel’s talk should give secondary school students a better idea of what universities are meant to provide.
“Some youngsters select university programmes based on their future careers. The NSHSS is a good platform for them to understand more about what they really want to achieve,” said Wong.
The Nobel Prize Family established the Prizes in recognition of success in physics, chemistry, physiology, medicine, literature, and peace.
