It's International Women's Day on Sunday, so who is your favourite woman from history?

Besides myself, my favourite women are teenage activist Malala Yousafzai and boxer Mary Kom. I think both represent the inspiration of youth and the quote "if there is a will, there is a way". They are definitely an inspiration to me and forever will be, even though it's hard to pronounce one name!

Favourite woman in history? Easy! Rosa Parks. The mother of the freedom movement was braver than the average soul when she refused to give up her seat on a bus, changing the civil rights movement forever. If only I could bring about such social change while on public transport.

Siri Livingston, 15, King George V School

JK Rowling. Everyone must have heard or seen this name multiple times. I mean, libraries dedicate a full shelf to her famous Harry Potter.

Tinaz Mirza, 16, South Island School

Not only did she fight in a war to spare her father from danger, she is also an iconic figure of girl power. There are lots of stories and even a cartoon based on her. I admire her strength and determination. She's a role model for many young girls, and her story is an inspiration for those seeking gender equality.

I wake up to the smell of eggs and bacon every morning. My pyjamas are always neatly folded at the end of my bed every time I come back home from school. She buys me yogurt, just because she knows I like it. My favourite woman in the entire universe is loving but stern, caring yet firm. I don't think I need to tell you who my favourite woman is.

My favourite women in history would definitely have to be Maya Angelou and Mother Teresa. I honestly cannot pick between the two! My favourite poems are by Maya Angelou, and I admire her so much for writing such powerful poetry that spoke up against injustice. Mother Teresa is inspirational in the way she gave up so much of what she had to help others with little or nothing. She truly had a heart of gold, and through her actions, has become an inspiration to so many others - including me!

Definitely the late Margaret Thatcher! She was the first and only woman to be prime minister of Britain. It has always been hard for women to reach the top jobs, so to become leader of an entire country is remarkable. She proved that women can be as strong as men, or even more powerful. Go away, male chauvinism!

Helen Wu Yan-hang, 17, NTHYK Yuen Long District Secondary School

Indira Gandhi, aka the "Iron Lady of India". Gandhi served as India's prime minister for almost four consecutive terms and remains the only woman to be India's prime minister. She is known for her efforts to help the poor and fight corruption, and also for improving India's relationships with foreign countries. I admire her political strength, and I've always thought her story sends out an important message: that women don't always have a soft side in politics, and will fight for justice, equality and better living standards. And all for the love of their country.

International Women's Day is to celebrate the achievements of women. Well, my favourite woman has the greatest achievement of all, in my opinion. She gave birth to me 15 years ago on March 8, which happens to be International Women's Day!
