Richard Gibson's Got Fly might be the forgotten four-year-old, even within his own stable, but the import gave his Hong Kong Classic Cup credentials a boost with a smooth turf trial at Sha Tin on Tuesday morning.

Got Fly broke through for his first local win on international day, but the impressive victory was soon to be overshadowed by stablemate Giant Treasure's dominant display later in the day.

The 80-rated Got Fly will skip the Classic Mile on Sunday week and instead run in a Class Two over 1,800m on the same day, before heading to the Hong Kong Classic Cup a month later.

Douglas Whyte was back aboard in the 1,000m heat and settled the French-bred gelding in between horses before peeling into the clear with 200m to go and cruising to the line.

Got Fly was a Listed winner over 2,000m in France and, after winning over 1,800m second-up, it would be expected the relaxed type will improve as the four-year-old series progresses up in distance to the BMW Hong Kong Derby on March 15.
